The study clearly demonstrates the applicability of CVM in valuation of natural resources in a rural setting. Importance of natural resources as perceived by the farmers in the study area has been revealed through their WTP for these resources. High valuation of fodder in the study area speaks of the higher ranking and its critical nature. The dependence of WTP for irrigation on its resource base and cropping pattem shows a logical peasant behaviour. This has been made evident by the significant variations' in WTP for fodder across different socio-economic groups. Though the study has limitation in terms of villages covered under the study, it opens new vistas of research. The study calls for more such surveys which can be done in other areas which are fragile in natural resource base.
