A total of 32 inter sub-specific hybrid crosses were made by crossing indica and japonica varieties with two indica (IR-36 and IR-50) and japonica (J-7 and Akihikari) testers each. On the basis of heterotic performance, 5 F1s were selected and advanced to F2 generation for analysing segregation of wide compatibility linked markers like spikelet fertility and apiculus colour.
