Study on rapeseed varieties and hybrids in warm dryland areas of Iran

The present study carried out to comparison rapeseed double zero varieties with hybrids in warm dryland areas of Iran. Experiment had 7 varieties alongwith 2 hybrids i.e. Hyola401 and Hyola308 that conducted in RCBD with 3 replications in 5 locations i.e. Sarpol-e-zahab, Gachsaran, Masjed-e-soliman, Pol-e-dokhtar and Gonbad in 2 years. Each variety/hybrid planted in 5×3 m plots. Land preparation did in fall then seeds planted befor the first effective rain. During growth season in addition to weeding, spray against pests and diseases some agronomic characters noted. Seed and oil yield calculated and oil content measured by NMR after harvesting. Results showed that Option500 had the higest seed yield in Sarpol-e-zahab in first and second year with 710 and 688 Kg/ha, respectively. This variety also showed the highest seed yield in first year of Gachsaran and second year of Masjed-e-soliman with 570.8 and 1069 Kg/ha, respectively. Hyola401 had the highest seed yield in both years of Gonbad, pol-e-dokhtar and second year of Gachsaran. Locations divided to two groups for combined analysis, first group included Gonbad, Sarpol-e-zahab and Gachsaran and the second one included Pol-e-dokhtar and Masjed-e-solman. Hyola401 had the highest seed yield in both groups and there was not significant diference with Option500. Rank analysis showes that Hyola401 and Option500 had the best rank with 1598 and 1320 Kg/ha seed yield, respectively. Mean of oil content in 3 locations (Gonbad, Sarpol-e-zahab and pol-e-dokhtar) was the highest in Option500 (%48). In general, Hyola401 had the wide adaptability to all warm drylands of Iran. Option500 showed the highest seed yield after Hyola401. If there is some problems to import hybrid seeds we can plant Option 500 as alternative for warm dryland areas.
