A new soybean variety 'Tsuyahomare' was developed at the Nagano Chushin Agricultural Experiment Station and registered as 'Soybean Norin 129' in 2004. It was selected from a cross between 'Tousan 144 (Ootsuru)' and 'Tousan 154'. 'Tsuyahomare' is a late-early maturing variety with determinate growth having purple flowers, a gray pubescence and an oval leaflet. It is resistant to purple seed stain and soybean mosaic virus strains -A, -B, -C and -D, but susceptible to soybean cyst nematode. Combine harvesting abilities of 'Tsuyahomare' are higher by its adequate shattering resistance and rapid senescence after maturing. The yielding of the new variety is higher than that of 'Tamahomare'. The seeds are large in size and lucid seed coats are yellow. Protein content of 'Tsuyahomare' is middle and suitable for as 'Tofu'. It is also good for 'Nimame' (seasoned boiled beans) by large seeds with good quality. 'Tsuyahomare' is recommended to Gifu Prefecture in 2004.
