Baker's Garlic is one of the most popular agricultural products in Tottori Prefecture. The planting and processing after harvest accounts for a large percentage of the cultivation works in the area. However, mechanization has not progressed enough, and so most of the jobs related to Baker's Garlic are still done by hand. This research aims to study the mechanized processing of Baker's Garlic after harvest. The conventional process calls for a worker to hold the Baker's Garlic, place it on the blade of a kitchen knife fixed to a desk, and cut it. A machine called 'Kirikko', which has two rotary blades, is also used to process it. Both methods are dangerous and difficult, especially for beginners because a worker has to process the Baker's Garlic while he or she is holding it. Therefore, we have developed a processing device that is very safe even for beginners and makes it possible to process it with as high efficiency as an experienced worker. The processing device we have developed consists of a cutting mechanism with chip-saws and a carrying mechanism with chain conveyors. In this study, the third, the forth, and the fifth devices have been developed and their accuracy and efficiency are examined.
