To establish long stable production system of nabana (Brassica napus L.) native strain in Aichi prefecture, we compared native strains with major varieties about the characteristics of flower stalk development, anthesis and lateral bud growth. The effects of seeding date on lateral bud growth of nabana native strain were examined. 1. The flower stalk development and anthesis of 'Zairaisyu (Kohnan)' were later than that of 'Sanrikutubomina', were earlier than that of 'Miyauchina'. The total yield of 'Zairaisyu (Kohnan)' was equal to 'Sanrikutubomina', but the harvest number of lateral bud per plant of 'Zairaisyu (Kohnan)' was fewer than that of 'Sanrikutubomina', the lateral bud per plant of 'Zairaisyu (Kohnan)' was heavier than that of 'Sanrikutubomina'. The flower stalk development and anthesis of 'Zairaisyu (Ama)' were equal to 'Sanrikutubomina'. The total yield and yield per month of 'Zairaisyu (Ama)' was equal to 'Sanrikutubomina'. But the harvest number of lateral bud per plant of 'Zairaisyu (Ama)' was more than that of 'Sanrikutubomina', the lateral bud per plant of 'Zairaisyu (Kohnan)' was lighter than that of 'Sanrikutubomina'. The flower stalk development and anthesis of 'Zairaisyu (Nousoushi)' were earlier than that of 'Sanrikutubomina'. The total yield, yield per month, the harvest number of lateral bud per plant and lateral bud weight per plant of 'Zairaisyu (Nousoushi)' was equal to 'Sanrikutubomina'. 2. The different seeding date about early September (common period), middle September, early October did not influenced harvest ending period of all variety and strain. When we quickened seeding date, the total yield and harvest number of lateral bud per plant increased. But the lateral bud weight per plant increased when we delayed seeding date. Particularly, the lateral bud of January in seeding date of early October was heavy. 3. To forward nabana (Brassica napus L.) stably during a long term, it was suggested that joining nabana native strain (very early maturing-medium maturing) to late maturing 'Miyauchina' was the most suitable.
