Production Situation and Demand Estimates of Cherry(Prunus avium L.) in Korea

The consumption of cherry in Korea is increasing rapidly as the income level of Koreans gets higher. However, a large portion of cherry being consumed is imported because of limited domestic production. A study on cherry consumption trends, importation, and production was conducted to estimate the future demand and optimum size of production areas of cherry in Korea. Data and information from previous studies and various sources were collected and analyzed using simple trend and regression analyses.
