In 2007, the growing season for maize was very favourable, that argues in experimentation obtained a very high average green mass (63.78 t haE-1) and dry matter yield (19.25 t haE-1) with suitable dry matter content (30.35%) for making of qualitative silage. The most suitable hybrids were with FAO numbers till 220 that acknowledge early carried out conclusions. Similarly as in previously years, also in 2007, cannot to assert, that very early hybrids, such as, for example, 'Nancis' (FAO 120), will be not suitable in conditions of Zemgale - Westkurzeme region (Latvia) due to low yield - early hybrids usually are little yielding; 'Nancis' (19.75 t haE-1) even provides 95% in a credibility level the higher dry matter yield than standard 'Tango' (+1.82 t haE-1; g0.05 = 1.58 t haE-1). The dry matter content for this hybrid was 34.22%, but dry matter of corncobs proportion in total dry matter yield - 53.20%, that are very good indicators. However, these hybrids in dry years greatly suffer due to moisture lack.
