Ecological prevalence of Tylenchulus semipenetrans in four districts of the Punjab province, Pakistan

Survey of different localities of Faisalabad, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh and Sahiwal districts of the Punjab province, Pakistan conducted during 2000-2002, revealed that the citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans, is widely distributed in all the citrus orchards. The infestation of citrus nematode in these districts was 84, 96, 92 and 92 %, respectively. In Faisalabad and Sargodha districts 66.66 % of the infested orchards showed infection above economic threshold level while in Toba Tek Singh and Sahiwal districts infection above economic threshold level was recorded in 60.87 % orchards. Number of juveniles of T. semipenetrans in 500 g of soil ranged between 25-8492 in Faisalabad, 99-9346 in Sargodha, 75-13275 in Toba Tek Singh and 38-12712 in Sahiwal. Similarly number of females in one g of roots ranged between 1-1862, 4-1978, 13-1864 and 13-1882 in Faisalabad, Sargodha , Toba Tek Singh and Sahiwal districts, respectively.
