Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the agronomic effectiveness of Exquisite Soil Conditioner sup TM, a biologically active product containing Bacillus lacterosporus BOD strain, on rice, corn and pole sitao. The experiments were done in Lipa soil series following the test protocols of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA). Exquisite Soil Conditioner supTM, when applied with the recommended rate of chemical fertilizer generally improved the yield of rice, corn and pole sitao over the control. Significant increases in some yield components of rice and corn were obtained. Increases in fresh bean yield of sitao were not statistically significant. However, these yield increases were comparable to those obtained using chemical fertilizer alone. The use of Exquisite Soil Conditioner supTM with maximum fertilizer rate for each crop could have limited the expression of its growth promoting property. Moreover, the application of the test product into the paddy water (for rice) and at the base of the plants (for corn and pole sitao) could have delayed contact with and subsequent colonization of the roots to affect growth promotion.
