Some natural enemies of Philippine butterflies

Observations on some natural enemies of Philippine butterflies were recorded by collecting and rearing samples at various developmental stages of representative species belonging to the families Papilionidae, Nymphalidae, Pieridae, Danaidae and Hesperiidae. Collecting was done in Laguna, Marinduque, Mindoro Oriental and Tarlac from 1996 to 2006. In decreasing order, the number of enemies recorded were: Hymenoptera (6) Diptera (2) = Isoptera (2) = Fungi (2) Hemiptera (1) = Orthoptera (1) = Bacteria (1) = Nuclear Polyhedrosis virus (1). Other biological control agent recorded were birds and spiders.
