Possibilities of mechanical limitation of weed infestation in maize and sorghum cultivation in ecological agriculture

Fields experiments in maize cultivation in 2002-2004 and in sorghum cultivation in 2006-2007 were conducted at the University of Poznan (Poland). The weeds control after weeder application was investigated. The weed control efficacy observed was mean 57.2 percent in maize (number of weeds) and 55.2 percent (fresh matter of weeds), in sorghum 71.6 percent (number of weeds) and 56.6 percent (fresh matter of weeds). The maize grain yield obtained was 63.5 dt/ha and fresh matter yield in sorghum was 68.1 t/ha
