The most often reasons of accidents occurring during wood harvesting from calamity forest stands (snowbreaks, windfalls and forest fires areas) are described in this article. Advantages of machine performed harvesting are underlined. In this investigation it was established and documented that risk of more often breakdowns of machines working on calamity areas is very high
