The effects of using organically bonded trace elements on performance of sows

The experiment was done on 136 pregnant sows according to group-control system. Pregnant sows were fed complete mixtures of standard chemical composition and composition of raw materials. The groups differed by the fact that in the experimental premix 30% of inorganic forms of trace elements (Fe-sulfate, Zn-sulfate, Cu-sulfate, Mn-sulfate, Co-sulfate and Ne-selenite), was substituted by organically bonded trace elements. By using experimental premixes better results were achieved at farrowing, as follows: more live born piglets by 5.82%, less stillborn piglets by 8.89%, less non-vital piglets by 6.47%, and higher litter weight at birth by 5.09%. The content of trace elements in samples of milk and blood serum of sows was tested using AAS method and spectrophotometry. The content of ash in the milk of sows in the experimental group was higher by 8.30%, iron by 6.44%. Concentrations of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Co and Se in blood serum of sows in the experimental group were higher by 52,52%, 26,67%, 14.02%, 0.47%, 4.88% and 4.80%, respectively.
