The paper deals with the areas under vegetables in the fields of particular counties in Serbia from 1996 to 2005. The production of vegetables in the fields in Serbia is carried out on the average of 292,000 ha which makes about 9% of arable land of this region. The areas under vegetables vary from 4,012 ha (Pirot county) to 25,187 ha (City of Belgrade). In the majority of counties (17) vegetables are grown in 5-15% of arable areas per a county. Vegetable production is of a particular importance in those counties which, as a rule, have a small arable land capacity.
