During the period 2003-2005 resistance of weed species Echinochloa crus-galli L. was studied to ALS (acetolactate synthetase) inhibitors (imazethapyr). Seed of plants that were suspected to be resistant to herbicide imazethapyr were collected from different localities in Vojvodina (Serbia), i.e. Bajmok, Irmovo, Futog, Kac, Kovilj, Cenej and Backi Maglic. Delicate referent population is included in experiments, collected from ruderal residence and indexes of resistance are calculated in relation to it. Studies were performed by two methodic procedures, bioassays in Petri dishes (Clay and Underwood, 1990) and by whole plant studies (Moss, 1995). Lower susceptibility of the weed Echinochloa crus-galli L. biotype from locality Bajmok and Irmovo 1 was determined by comparative analysis to imazethapyr. Population from the locality Backi Maglic and Futog also developed resistance to imazethapyr, while populations from localities Kac, Kovilj, Cenej and Irmovo (ruderal) showed highly susceptible to the applied herbicides.
