The most appropriate drying conditions of reeds of Arundo donax L. and Arundo plimos varieties, in order to use them as biomass can be connected to low energy consumption of drying and minimum drying time. The nine experiments at three temperatures (50, 60 and 70 deg C) and three rates of air recirculation (0, 50, 75%), which were undergone to study the optimum drying conditions, shown that: at 70 deg C and 0% air recirculation provides minimum drying time and maximum energy consumption, while at 50 deg C and 75% air recirculation provides maximum drying time and minimum energy consumption, but not very significant. Drying of reeds in low temperatures with high percentage of air recirculation proved to be the most appropriate conditions of drying considering drying time and energy consumption.
