This article presents the leaf rust developing intensity on oats in the hilly-mountainous region of Western Serbia. This disease was the most distributed and economically important on oats during the period of 2006-2008. There were significant differences in the developing intensity of this pathogen over years and locations. The largest intensity was established in the location of Sjenica (33.33%), Tara and Kokin Brod (30%), as well as, in Kusici (28.33%), while the smallest one was detected in Ivanjica (13.33%). The largest (36.66%), i.e. smallest (11.66%), average attack intensity of the leaf rust pathogen for all locations was during 2006, i.e. 2008, respectively. In order to reduce the losses caused by the oats leaf rust pathogen, a more active approach to the development and growing of resistant cultivars is necessary.
