Effects of incorporating ameliorative substances on cation exchange capacity in solonetz soil

This paper reviews the results of a study of an incorporation of meliorative substances effects on cation exchange capacity (CEC) of solonetz soil in the Vojvodina Province (Serbia). CEC was determined by cation extraction with ammonium acetate at pH 7. Based on the results of field visits and laboratory analyses, ameliorating fertilization of solonetz by phosphogypsum at Kumane site did not affect CEC, while the application of organic waste material (by-products of sugar beet preprocessing) at Zabalj locality had resulted in a statistically significant decrease of CEC for 5,81 cmol/kg.
