Prospective use of biological method for plant protection against plant parasitic nematodes

Some literature and original data on using different biological methods and bioagents (strains of antagonistic bacteria and fungi, nematoparasitic bacteria and fungi, predatory fungi and others) in plant protection against phytoparasitic nematodes were summarized in this article. Different strains of antagonistic bacteia and fungi have been actively tested last years in order to discover their complex fungicidal, bactericidal and nematicidal activity in different biocenosis around the world, and in Russia in particular. This work is aimed at further development of environment friendly and energy-saving methods of plant protection. Bacterial strains of Pseudomonas and Bacillus that possess not only fungicidal but also bactericidal and nematicidal effects were revealed as a result of laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments. These strains could regulate numbers of virus vector nematodes from Longidoridae and Trichodoridae as well as their associated viruses. Also, the strains have been shown to stimulate plant growth and high yield for different varieties of test plants. They should be considered as natural regulators for numbers and distribution of parasites
