The efficacy of introducing resource saving technologies for cultivating grain crops in the Samara Region in 1998. The technologies are based on minimization or giving up mechanical soil tillage, crop rotations including both economically expedient and soil fertility improving crops; comprehensive control of weeds, pests and plant diseases, using high reproductive seeds. Since 2002 production experiments were added with investigation of precision farming technology. This is cultivation of grain crops by using equipment of global positioning systems, electronic land maps and area inventories including crop monitoring systems, mapping nutrient contents in soil, differentiated off-line application of fertilizer with regard to soil availability and requirements of plants , yield mapping, recommendation on work of the following field season by special software. By 2015 in the Samara Region 85% of areas are planned to be worked by using resource saving technologies with profitability of 47.5%
