Under the conditions of 3-year field experiment realized on medium heavy loam degraded chernozem effectiveness of N, NS and NMgS fertilizers applied in spring barley (variety of Nitran) was investigated in locality of Sladkovičovo during the years 2003-2006. Before seeding applied nitrogen, nitrogen — sulphur and nitrogen-magnesium-sulphur nutrition, respectively, statistically significantly increased grain yield of spring bariey and considerably influenced content of crude protein in bariey grain. The yields of spring bariey grain were increased by 4.4%, 6.0% and 6.9% when N, NS and NMgS nutrition was applied, respectively in comparison to control treatment. Content of crude protein (CP) was the most increased (by 6.9% comparing to unfertilized control) when only N nutrition in the form of LAD 27 (N fertilizer) was applied. Combination of NS nutrition applied in the form of DASA 26/13 fertilizer increased content of CP by 2.5% related to unfertilized control treantment. And finally, when NMgS nutrition in the form of Magnisul 21-5-11 fertilizer was applied under spring bariey, content of CP ascended by 5.6% in comparison with unfertilized control. This knowledge increases probability of malt bariey growers to reach higher yields of grain with lower content of CP, when NS or NMgS nutritional combination will be used instead of solo N fertilization.
