Responses of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill ) Chiang Mai 60 cultivar to elevated ozone were investigated during January-April 2007. Soybean were planted in plantation area at Phitsanulok field crops research center and seedling were covered with Open-Top Chamber (OTC), with Charcoal filtered (CF ), Non - charcoal filtered (NCF) and Charcoal filtered air plus ozone 50 ppb (CF(sup50+)). Yield growth and physiological parameters were observed at vegetative V1, V2 and V3 and reproductive R1, R3, R6 and R8 growth phases. Results indicated that the most significant negative impacts of O3 were plant height and leaf area index (LAI) under elevated O3 concentrations. Effects of O3 on in decreased of chlorophyll a and b contents became obvious at reproductive growth phases.Moreover, yield components were also strongly affected by O3.The highest reduction in no.seed/plant and no.of pod/plant 26-27 percent when it was exposed to 50 ppb O3 compared to the control (NCF). Similarly, 100 grain weight was also reduced as much as 11.1percent in this cultivar.
