Tuna waste was used as a fortified amino acid source for black tiger shrimp larvae feed. It was hydrolysed by mixed culture of Lactobacillus brevis LB43 and L. plantarum LP64, which grew rapidly in the waste mixed with 10 percent molasses. The hydrolysate was added to commercial shrimp larvae feed at 12.5, 25.0 and 50.0 percent (v/w). The effect of hydrolysate addition on black tiger shrimp larvae's growth rate and survival rate was studied for 28 days. The results showed that the addition of 12.5 percent (v/w) of hydrolysate increased larvae growth rate and survival rate, which was higher than commercial feed (control). The specific growth rate and survival rate of shrimp larvae were 0.0358 g/day and 75.0 percent, respectively. Furthermore, the additon of hydrolysate into commercial feed at 12.5-50.0 percent (v/w) did not affect water quality in culture tanks but decreased the number of Vibrio spp.
