This research aimed to examine karyotypes of five cyprinid fishes, including Rasbora agilis, R. dorsiocellata, R. rubrodorsalis, Boraras maculate and B. urophthalmoides from Thailand. Chromosome preparations for karyotype analysis were obtained from gill epithelial tissues. The results of this study revealed that all cyprinid fishes under study possessed the same diploid chromosome number of 50. Their karyotypes were as follows. Rasbora agilis had 12 metacentric (m) + 13 submetacentric (sm) pairs with the arm number (NF) of 100. R. dorsiocellata possessed 9m + 12sm + 4 acrocentric (t) pairs and NF=92. R. rubrodorsalis had 8m + 8sm + 9t pairs and NF=82. Boraras maculate had 6m + 15sm + 2 subtelocentric (st) + 2t pairs with 1 pair of satellite and NF=92. B. urophthalmoides possessed 9m + 13sm + 1st + 2t pairs and NF=94.
