Survey of fish fauna in the Hang River, a tributary of the Upper Nan River (Nan Province), northern Thailand was conducted from June 2005 to May 2006 from 10 sampling stations followed the longitudinal gradient. Nine orders, 19 families, 40 genera, 45 species of fishes were collected. The most dominant order is Cypriniformes (27 species (60 percent)), followed by Perciformes (9 species (20 percent)) and Siluriformes (3 species (6.7 percent)) The most dominant family is Cyprinidae (19 species (42.2 percent)), followed by Balitoridae (7 species (15.5 percent)) and Cobitiidae (2 species (4.4 percent)). Only one species, Hemimyzon nanensis, is an endemic species to the basin. Two alien species, Poecillia reticulata and Oreochromis niloticus were collected.
