The temperature gradient T оC/cm is one of the most important factors determining water transfer in the soil profile. The temperature gradient has an effect on the soil water distribution, depending on the degrees of damping filling up of pores with water, on the surface temperature and on the soil density. The investigations, presented in this study include: choice of a proper measuring method and device for evaluation of the soil temperature gradient and putting of the values of T into agricultural practice showing the results obtained by a field experiment with serial plants grew on haplic vertisol leached smolnitsa.
