Investigation of the influence of the character of the organic substances (organic substance in the form of crop residues of green manure, the whole top and root remains of green manure, straw-containing manure, liquid manure and straw) and the applied mineral fertilizers on the potential enzymatic activity of urea, invertase enzymes and cellulose at different stages of organic substances breaking down was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus. Results of soil enzymatic activity of urea, invertase and cellulose enzymes on the second year of organic and green fertilizer action up to the moment of an intensive consumption of nutritive elements by barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) at the stage of spire formation were presented. Research results showed that application of organic substances promoted the increasing of organic substances content in soil as well as created the preconditions for the accelerated transfer of new organic fertilizers into accumulated by plants form. Invertase activity mostly depended of the climatic conditions. Root mass rendered the highest influence of that enzymatic index. Liquid manure exercised more intensive influence on the urea and invertase enzymes activity in comparison with straw-containing manure and straw. Application of straw (4 t / ha) with N40 ammonia nitrate or with 20 t/ha of liquid manure in both years of investigation provided the lowest potential of cellulose breaking down activity
