Genetic parameters for first calving reproductive traits in the Siboney de Cuba genotype | Parámetros genéticos para rasgos reproductivos de primer parto en el genotipo Siboney de Cuba

Con el objetivo de conocer los valores estimados de heredabilidad (h2) para la edad a la incorporación (EDINC), la edad al primer servicio (ED1SER), los servicios por gestación (SG) y la edad al primer parto (EDIPAR) así como las correlaciones genéticas y ambientales entre estos rasgos, fueron analizados 1 724 registros de novillas del genotipo Siboney de Cuba, provenientes de la Empresa Genética Nazareno, que parieron entre 1975-2004. El fichero de pedigrí estuvo integrado por 4 630 individuos. Los parámetros genéticos fueron estimados utilizando el procedimiento REML mediante un Modelo Animal bicarácter usando el programa ASREML de Gilmour et al. (2000). Las h2 presentaron valores de 0.23, 0.29, 0.06 y 0.31 para EDINC, EDISER, SG y EDIPAR, respectivamente. Las correlaciones genéticas fueron positivas y oscilaron entre 0.58 a 0.82; similar comportamiento mostraron las correlaciones ambientales, con un rango de 0.43 a 0.72, exceptuando las correlaciones de los SG con EDINC y ED1SER, que fueron negativas y no superaron el valor de 0.10. An analysis was made from 1724 heifer records of the Siboney de Cuba genotype to learn the estimated heritability (h2) values for age at A.I. incorporation, age at first service, number of services per conception and age at first calving as well as the genetic and environmental correlations between these traits. Calving occurred from 1975 to 2004, at the Cattle breeding Enterprise Nazareno. The pedigree record included 4630 individuals. The genetic parameters were estimated using the REML procedure through a bi-character animal model using the ASREML program of Gilmour et al. (2000). The h2 showed values of 0.23, 0.29, 0.06 and 0.31 for the studied traits, respectively. The genetic correlations were positive and ranged from 0.58 to 0.82. Similar performance showed the environmental correlations ranging from 0.43 to 0.72, with the exception of the correlations for the number of services per conception with the ages at A.I. incorporation and at the first service, which were negative and not surpassing the value of 0.10.
