Low sugar content Is one of the Prolems in sugar beet cultivation in Moghan Which may result from different factors such as agrotechnical and climatic Conditions and the type of cultivar. In This regard, There has been a lot of Projects Condacted and being Carried out. Sugar beet seed Institute Of iran has Conducted a great deal of resarch project in relation to the development of monogerm hybrid cultivars and so far it has developed Some monogerm Cultivars Such as Rasoul , Shirin, Gadouk and Jolgeh for normal Conditi ons and Zarghan for Rhizomania – infected areas . The current reseach Project was conducted during 1997-2001 to develop diploid monogerm hybrid cultivar adapted to moghan Climatic conditions . in this Project four diploid pollinatars (7233-p.12 / 7233-p.107/ 221 a-d 436) as male parents and a male strile line (261) an Female parent were crossed and the selection were made in karaj and moghan. The resulta hybrids as well as two foreign check cultivars ( oryx and Dorothea) were evaluated in the field in a complete block design .The results indicated that all hybrids and the foreign check variety were classified in group A for root yield. in terms of sugar yield, dorothea and 261*7233-p.107 were in groups a and ABC , reapectvely wheras in terms of punty, they were in groups A and B, respectively and the hybrid 261*7233-p.107 had higher yield than other hybrids. it could be concluded that the genetic materil developed in karaj and Moghan showed different effects for sugar yield , sugar content and juice purity and the best hybrid with respect to root yield , sugar Content and white sugar yield was ms261*7233.p.107.Keywords: sugar beet , multigerm , monogerm hybrid , male sterile rhizomania, leat area durability.
