Crop loss assessment and Economic Injury Level for Lixus incanescens Boh., an important pest of sugar beet, were determined in an unsprayed field in West Azarbaijan, Ardabil and Tehran provinces during 2006 and 2007. Crop loss assessment for the adults was on the basis of 0- 5 index, at the 4- 6 leaf stage of sugar beet. Three rows of 50 plants were selected in four different regions. One of them was sprayed every two weeks with common insectiside. Estimation of different values of infested petioles has been done once a month. Determination of yield, sugar content and purity percentage of roots were done at harvest time. Results showed increase in infested petioles per plant caused decrease of sugar content and purity percentage and also increase in sugar beet yield. EIL was determined 6 and 5 infested petioles per plant in Tehran and west Azarbaijan provinces respectively. 5 and 4 infested petioles per plant is suitable time for spraying.
