Inbreeding of sweet corn lines (S2 - S5)

Producing of corn hybrids by crossing between inbred lines is a general method in maize breeding. This experiment was conducted to preparing sweet corn inbred lines existing in Maize and Forage Department of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute at Karaj, Iran in 2007. In this study, 120 S2-S5 lines were evaluated and selected to selfing. The length of each row was 5 meters. The Distance between rows and seeds in row was 75 and 40 centimeters respectively. At least 7 plants were selfed in each line. Ears in each row were taken separately and the better ears were selected in order to planting in next year.
