This experiment was conducted to evaluate yield Potential and some morphological character of 14 sainfoin ecotypes using a RCB design with 3 replications in Karaj and Esfahan durig 3 years period (2004-2006). Each experimental plot consist of four rows with 6m longth. Cultural and harvest procedures were done commonly used for sainfoin yield trails at each location. Data were recordes on traits such as height plant, leave and stem ratio, panicule Length, spiklet number and plant type, responses to powdery mildew disease . The fresh and dry forage yield of each ecotype was also determind by harvesting 3m2 area of two centeral rows in each plot. Simple and combined analyses of variance were performed for all traits using statistical software of MSTATC. Results indicated that were significant differences for all traits among varieties at 0.01 probability level for all traits and yields. Mean comparisons showed that ecot. 1 (Gazvin) ecot. 8 (Kabootar Abad) with fresh yield of 112t/h and also dry yield of 22 and 21.8 t/h had the highest values among the other ecotypes. Eco. 7 (Golpaygan) , 12 (Borogen), 11 (Agh Boloagh) with mean plant hight of 78.59, 77.97 and 77.96 cm ecot. 8 (Kabootar Abad) with leave and stem ratio of 1.22 had the highest values among the other ecotypes too. The ecot. 1 (Ghazvin) and 8 (Kabootar Abad) were selected as the best Ecotypes in two Locations.
