Complement fixation (CF) is the most generally useful serological method in diagnostic virology, it is applicable to all or vast majority viroses from wchich satisfactory CF antigen can be prepared. The specificity of CF reaction tends to be broader, or at least equal to neutralization or HI tests. CF tests are mainely used for serological diagnosis, but can also be useful for Identifying virns Isolates. CFT is one of the most soutine serological tests in diagnostic medical laboratories for diagnosis of varicella - zoster virns (VZV) infection in human. To run the CF test on VZV infection many laboratories are importing CF antigen at the present. In this project we have prepared the CF antigen in Razi Institute with local isolates. The specifidty, sesitivity and reproducibility of the preparation is compare ab le with imported"Behring Antigen".
