Possible use of height curve in evaluation of Scots pine progeny trials | Augstumlīknes izmantošana paratās priedes pēcnācēju pārbaužu stādījumos

Three open pollinated Scots pine progeny trial, which consists from 255 families in total, have analyzed. Genetic factors have significant (α=0,001) influence to hdE-1 relationship of trees. Correlation among tree heights calculated from height curve (derived from 9 trees from each family) and measured directly are high (r=0,82-0,88) and significant (α=0,001). Differences among the height obtained with both method’s are in average 6-9% (0,8-1 m), maximal 18-76% (2,9-5,2 m). Considering the low number of trees (11-23) per family, that diminishes importance to use height curve, and considerable family rank changes in same cases, if direct measurements are not used, it is not recommended to apply height curve in 26-32 from height curve (derived from 9 trees from each family) and measured directly are years old Scots pine progeny trials.
