The aim of research was to evaluate milk yield, composition and quality in two different milking systems. The planned experiment was conducted from August 2008 to March 2009 in the herd of the Study and research farm "Vecauce" of the Latvia University of Agriculture. There were two milking systems analyzed: the "Side by Side" milking system (SBSM) and automatic milking system. The experiment was formed from two different breeds: Black-and-White Holstein (BWH) and Latvian Brown (LB) cow. The milk yield was recorded in the farm. There were raw milk samples made and sent to SIA Piensaimnieku laboratorija every month. Laboratory analysed 452 milk samples fat, protein, lactose content with Milko-Scan 133 B, the somatic cells count (SCC) with Bentley-Somacount 300, and the freezing pint with ISO 5764/IDF 108:2009 Determination of freezing point - Thermistor cryoscope method. The results of the analyses from consecutive month were statistical analysed. Milk yield between milking system is significantly different (p is less than 0.05). Milking system has significantly influenced to milk FP (freezing point) (p is less than 0.05).
