Studies on availability of P and K status of soils in Taluka Matli district Badin

This effort was made to evaluate the availability of P and K status of soils in taluka, Matli, district Badin was carried out during the year 2005. Sixty soil samples were collected from different profiles at 0-15, 15-30 and 30-45cm depths. These were analyzed for macro-nutrients (P and K) along with some physical and chemical determinations. Results showed that 85% soils of the studied area were observed clay in texture. The analytical results for soil pH indicated that 86.66% were moderately alkaline, 8.33% were slightly alkaline and 5% were strongly alkaline at all depths. According to EC value 45% of soils of studied area were very slightly saline, 45% were moderately saline, 1.66% were strongly saline and 8.33% found non-saline. Organic matter content of the surveyed area showed that 53.33% soil was love and 46% were medium. Lime content of surveyed area showed that majority of samples was calcareous in nature.
