Efficacy of different bio-pesticides against thrip, Thrips tabaci Lind, on onion

Commercial variety was planted in complete randomized block design with 4 replications. Each replication comprised of five sub-plots for respective treatments as T1 (Neem oil), T2 (Neem powder), T3 (Neem oil + B.M. Beneficial Micro-organism), T4 (Tobacco extract) and T5 (Control). The recommended doses of neem oil, neem powder, neem oil + B.M. were sprayed twice during cropping season. The pre-treatment observation to record the population of thrip were recorded 24 hours before spray. Whereas, post treatment observations were taken after 24, 48, one week and twice week interval. For this purpose five plants were selected at random from each sub-plot. Two leaves per plant, one leaf from top, one from bottom were examined thoroughly for population count. The data analyzed statistically. The effectiveness of the bio-pesticide was determined on the basis of post-treatment population of thrip.
