It was found that among the stallions used for reproduction at Janow Podlaski Stud (Poland), as for as circumference at girth and at cannon is concerned, the stallion Balon 1979 distinguished himself as a pronounced improver. On the other hand, such stallions, as Argo 1976, El Paso 1967, Europejczyk 1982, Ellorus 1972, Fawor 1981, Pepi 1975, Wist 1973 caused deterioration of breeding value within the scope of one or two analysed traits. Particular predispositions of certain stallions were observed in terms of passing on specified traits
