The influence of different potassium and nitrogen fertilization on the plant yield and light soil properties

The experiment was carried out on heavy loam sand of 18 percent clay fraction. This soil had acid reaction and low content of soluble forms of potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. As test plants white mustard was cultivated in main crop and maize in aftercrop. Two levels of nitrogen fertilization were applied - 0.75 g (N1) and 1.5 g (N2) per pot and within each nitrogen dose increased potassium doses were added K1 (0.5 g), K2 (1.25 g) and K3 (2.0 g) per pot. Significant yield increase of test plants was observed on objects were potassium fertilization by both nitrogen fertilization levels was applied. In comparison with the first nitrogen dose, the second applied dose has significantly reduced mean yield of mustard and maize. Increasing potassium fertilization on two different nitrogen fertilization levels has caused an increase of this element content in analysed plants, while contents of the other macronutrients have decreased. K:Mg ratio and K:(Ca:Mg) ratio have expanded with increased potassium doses and higher nitrogen dose has caused further increase of these cations ratio. Potassium fertilization applied on light soil has increased share of soluble in water potassium forms from exchangeable forms of this element in soil and expanded K:Mg ratio
