The effects of eight sowing dates of the domestic (Serbian) cultivar of fenugreek on the yield, total germination and 100-seed weight were observed in the present study. The four-replicate trial was set up according to a randomised block design in Pancevo (Serbia) during 2007 and 2008. According to the analysis of variance, all sowing dates very significant affected all studied traits. The factor year was very important for the yield and total seed germination, while there were no significant effects on the 100-seed weight. The sowing date x year interaction was very important for total germination, while there were no significant differences in yields and 100-seed weights. The highest yield was obtained on the 5th (i.e. April 17) and 4th (i.e. April 7) sowing dates, while the performed LSD test showed significant difference in relation to other sowing dates. The greatest germination and 100-seed weight were recorded in the seed of the fourth sowing date (April 7). Based on the two-year results, it can be concluded that the optimum dates for fenugreek sowing in the location of Pancevo range from April 7 to April 17 (i.e. the 4th and 5th sowing dates)
