Mechanisms of particle separation by cyclone, fabric, electrical and wet scrubber filters, as well as flue gas condensation precipitators are explained. In particular, discussed is the influence of particle size and its characteristics on separation efficiency in different separator types. Presented are the results of particles separation during biomass fuels combustion with respect to: wood (mainly anorganic particles) with high and low water content, straw (mainly salts like KCl), and wood waste (Cl and heavy metals). The paper focuses on production of new materials for toxic components absorption from flue gases during biomass fuels combustion.
