Analysis of exploitation parameters for carrot production technology in mini-beds on a private farmstead in Begec (Serbia), was conducted in order to improve the production process. Employng standard methods, hourly productivity and engagement of human and machine labour was determined. Present technology of mini-bed carrot production with hand gathering, requires 1,543 h/ha of human labour. The highest input of human labour was determined for carrot gathering and transport, 53.99%, and for hand packaging, 40.51%. Carrot production technology which employs mechanized gathering requires a total of 745 h/ha of human labour, which is a reduction of 51.7%. Technology of mini-bed carrot production with hand gathering requires 10,135 kWh/ha of machine labour. The greatest proportion of machine labour is engaged in watering, 58.15%, carrot washing, 18.94%, while only 9.86% is used for soil tillage. For carrot production technology, which employs mechanized gathering, the machine labour totals 10,441 kWh/ha, which represents a 3.02% increase. The greatest potential for savings in human and machine labour lies in technological operations of washing and hand packaging. Beside financial motivation, building a washing and packaging plant in a commercial yard next to the warehouse would also contribute to environment protection.
