Heterotrophic microflora of recently disposed and recovered sands at the surface PIT Drmno [Serbia]

The dominant granulometrical fraction in the texture of Drmno surface pit barren soil consists of sands that are classified by colour to red, white and by mechanical composition to pure and clayey. Due to unsuitable terrain configuration of the external landfill of this pit, biological recultivation has been carried out with acacia forestation. Testing was made of quantitative representation of some physiological groups of microorganisms in deposit sands of various ages, and mechanical composition both of recently disposed (one day old) and recovered. The contents of organic matter and pH have been determined among chemical properties essential to interpret results. Results have shown a very low biogenesis of recently disposed sands with an exception of clayey sand that due to presence of clay colloids has a much larger capacity of absorption of cations necessary in plant and microorganism nutrition. The same phenomenon has been observed in recovered sands. Clayey sand under acicias contains three times more microorganisms than pure sand under the same culture although the contents of organic matter in both substrates is nearly the same. Of tested microorganism groups the largest representation in recently deposited sands is shown by oligonitrophyls and this points to inappropriate nitrogen regime of these substrates.
