Chetverickov, A.V.
The agri-food holding company (AHC) profile, economical links between its incorporated entities, as well as its advantages and disadvantages have been examined compared to other legal entities. AHC is an integrated corporation encompassing farms, processing plants and trading outlets. The AHC economical advantages emerge due to cost reduction resulted from a scale effect and specialization, higher effectiveness of resource utilization thanks to their optimal allocation in the incorporated entities, their protection from competitors and synergy of incorporated entities activity. The AHC disadvantages encompass low speed of decision taking process, complexity of production and funding planning, unfair pricing inside AHC. To improve the organizational profile and economic tool of activity for the "Agroholding" AHC, operating in Russia, the author suggests the establishment of subAHCs, outcome-oriented employee encouragement, lavelling the economic opportunities for the AHC entities. The marketing strategy for poultry production and processing should include keeping the present position on the raw farm product market, leadership on the sausage market, penetration into the ready-made meat products market and its expansion. The above measures might allow to increase the total profitability of the "Agroholding" AHC from 37.8% in 2008 up to 43% in 2015.
