Efficacy of shiram 25% DP (a new formulation of thiram) for the control of covered kernel smut (sporisorium sorghi) in sorghum

A field experiment was conducted at Rahad Research Station in season 2006/07 to evaluate the efficacy of Shiram 25 % DP (a new formulation of Thiram ) for the control of covered kernel smut disease in sorghum under artificial disease inoculation conditions. The product was tested at the recommended rate (3 g product / kg seeds) and compared with Thiram 25 % DP and Raxil 2 % WS as counterpart and standard treatments, respectively. The results showed that Shiram 25% DP at the tested rate reduced disease incidence by 98 % and increased grain yield by 24 % compared to the untreated control
