The investigation of the fatty acid composition of m. longissimus dorsi intramuscular fat was performed on Krskopolje pigs. Pigs, 19 castrates and 23 gilts, were fed with cereals, maize and aftermath hay. Lighter group was feed at average live weight 125 kg and heavier at 155 kg. One day after slaughter the muscle samples were taken after last rib. In laboratory the intramuscular fat content and fatty acid composition were determined. Castrates had more monounsaturated fatty acids (55,83 %) than gilts (54,40 %). Gilts had more polyunsaturated fatty acid (8,41 %) than castrates (7,34 %). More oleic acid was found in heavier than in lighter group (p=0,0564). Saturated fatty acid content decrease with age while unsaturated fatty acids in m. longissimus dorsi increased.
