Differences between regular and supervision milk recording results were analysed on 11,479 pair records from 181 herds in 948 regular and super milk controls in the period from 1 April 2004 to 31 July 2010. Differences between regular and super control have a leptokurtic distribution. The highest kurtosis was observed for the differences in protein content (21.7) followed by milk yield (5.4) and the lowest for fat content (2.9). Random variation brings the biggest part to the differences between regular and super milk control (from 72.8 to 73.9 %, from 71.8 to 95.0 % and from 98.8 to 98.9 % for milk yield, and fat and protein content, respectively). Operator's and supervisor's contribution is relatively small and similar to the contribution of herd. A new approach to detection of 'suspicious' regular and super control based on dispersion and bias of the differences between regular and super control is proposed.
