In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were described underyearlings of a mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio) in accordance with some fishery indicators. In course of the study of results of breeding of eleven complicated three-, four-, and five-breed carp crosses of Belarusian selection with imported breeds there were obtained combinations which were characterized by heightened productivity (an accelerated tempo of weight growth and survival ability of underyearlings). For underyearlings this productivity was determined by a rate of weight gain (the average body weight) and viability rate in summer period. Evidently, these cross combinations will be used as material for creation of a mirror carp breed. As a result of a comparative evaluation of crosses with mirror carps of Belarusian selection it was determined that carps of Belarusian selection in the majority of cases were similar to complicated crosses with imported breeds, or even sometimes exceeded the latter by body weight and viability indexes. As a result of the study it was proved that the national breeding material showed its positive qualities, especially in complicated hydrological conditions.
