Evaluation of compost influence on soil water retention

The influence of compost added to soil at doses of 50 and 100 t/ha on soil water retention was evaluated in experiments at two sites during the years 2009 and 2010. Changes of humidity were continuously monitored and recorded by soil moisture sensors. Our results showed that compost application positively affected water retention of the soil, regardless of soil type, grassing and amount of rainfalls.
